One of the most highly-rated luxury marbles, Rosso Levanto is quarried in the municipalities of Levanto, Bonassola, Deiva and Chiavari (between Genoa and La Spezia) and has been used since Roman times to make columns, floors and facings.
The unique nature of this marble (ophicalce) combined with the presence of iron oxides, gives the material its unmistakable dark red colour, at times tending to violet, with long and sparse white and green veins.
