Colour
This stone is very appreciated in the building industry for its bluish-grey colour homogeneous and regular. In fact, as is often the case with sandstone, there are no major veins but rather just a few barely perceptible colour nuances.
Features
Being a sandstone of sedimentary origin, Pietra Serena tends to be fine-grained, but the grain size is variable depending on the quarry extraction point. The deeper the stone is in the quarry, the greater the compression, and consequently the more compact and resistant it will be compared to the upper layers.
MarmoreGranite.de uses only Pietra Serena classified as Extra Hard, to offer solid and durable products..
In spite of its hardness it is easy to work, it is smooth but not polishable, and it gives a rustic and minimalist look.
Use
Because of its particularly textured character, microporosity and ease of processing, Pietra Serena lends itself to multiple slab and strip processing with which thresholds, stairs and window sills of various thicknesses are produced.
The properties of this material allow for the creation of multiple architectural elements (portals, arches, fireplaces, fountains), in harmony with the classic Tuscan Medicean building tradition.
